Upcoming Races

Lakeland Slateman Three Peaks Duathlon

The inaugural Lakeland Slateman 3 Peaks Duathlon will take place from Keswick, Cumbria on Saturday 21 September 2019. This is a team pair/trio event and briefly involves the following:

 - 100km Mountain Bike and Fell Run Challenge via England's three highest peaks

 - Helvellyn - Sca Fell Pike - Skiddaw

 - 58KM Bike - 42KM Run

This event is open to anyone to take part but it will include a ‘Police Force’ Challenge within the event. The MTB sections include some steep and tough terrain as well as nice easy bridal paths between the peaks. The Challenge is to complete the course in 12 hours so this should appeal to a wide spectrum of cyclists/runners.  The whole event is set in the heart of some of the most magnificent scenery in the Lake District.

Recent Races

10 Mile Road Race

Wiltshire Police Hosted the 2019 10 mile road race event within the grounds of MOD Lyneham on 4th September.

There were a number of MOD participants in the race to promote good working relations between the Police and the Military. The route was 2 lap course and the day finished with an evening function and an awards ceremony

Cross Country

On Thursday 17th January 2019, the RAF hosted the annual cross-country representative fixture at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire.

The course was slightly different to previous years, zig zagging across and bordering the playing fields and not taking in the trails through the woods.  The weather was sunny and dry but there was a bitterly cold wind!

The going under foot was good and firm. The women’s race was run over two large laps a distance of approximately 7km and the men’s race over 3 large laps a distance of approximately 10.5 km

Snowdonia 7’s Mountain Race

Teams of 4, 22 miles (Originally a Police Cadet race from the 1974) PSUK affiliated organised by North Wales Police or Snowdonia Seven facebook page

The Snowdonia Seven is undoubtedly the most enjoyable (and challenging) event in the police sporting calendar.

It has been held annually since 1974 and still embodies the original ethos of developing ‘Fitness, Teamwork and Endurance’.  To complete the challenge, teams (of 4) must travel 22 miles, over 7 peaks (with a total ascent of almost 8000’) – in under 10 hours, carrying the safety kit detailed in the rules.

Confirmed date for the 2019 event is Saturday 6th of July

Northern Police Cross Country League

Season runs from Sept to March normally a race every 2 weeks. or northern police cross country league facebook page

The 2020 PSUK Cross-Country Championships will be hosted by Norfolk Constabulary in Thetford Forest, Norfolk on Wednesday 26th February 2020

The league started in the late 1970's and for over 40 years has attracted runners from most of the police forces across the north of England.

The league now stages 12 fixtures each season that starts in late September through to late March. Each fixture attracts between 40 and 80 runners.

In recent years the league has gone from strength to strength, despite the pressures of securing time-off from police duties. We have recently added an 11th and 12th fixture that add a better chance to attend the six required fixtures!
